Design Manifesto
In its current form, the design industry is inherently throwaway and wasteful. We strongly believe that architects and interior designers need to rethink their roles and be vehicles for positive change rather than perpetuating existing problems such as waste, exploited labour markets and pollution. We put sustainable design principles at the heart of our work, but in a way that does not compromise practical and commercial priorities. We do this in two main ways.
We don’t follow trends. Trends are inherently short-lived, and following them builds obsolescence into a project and its materials. Instead, we take our inspiration from the history and context of a space, creating timeless designs from materials that will last as long as they are needed.
We design for future disassembly. Our award-winning Design for Disassembly process saves carbon, materials and money. When materials are easy to repair, refresh, reuse and recycle, we can minimise environmental impact and simultaneously bring commercial benefits.
